ABOUT LALAGE
I am a hobby potter turned professional, following my long-held passion for pottery with one goal: cultivating joy in my life by doing what I love. During the latter part of my 30-year career in Marketing, I attended weekly pottery lessons every Saturday for six years. For the last four years, I honed my skills more full-time while nurturing my decision to go all in and create my dream business—a name and logo I designed when I was 20, not yet knowing their purpose. I used to joke with friends, warning them never to copy this name or logo, as I will make sure to be using it for something someday, and now here I am, bringing it to life!
From childhood I was always fascinated with a coffee set my parents had on display, not really ever using it, made by Liebermann, of which we now have one cup, and one saucer left. I remember staring at a drum of clay and a disassembled wooden wheel structure hanging in my dad’s garage during my childhood. He said he’ll see if he can assemble it for me one day, but you know how we say things to our kids to appease them and I stopped asking at a point … I recently discovered that my dad made that wheel for my grandmother, who used to do pottery just for fun. She never fired the items, just played around, reusing the clay to create whatever she felt like on the day. How amazing! There are no coincidences in life, and it’s fantastical how my fascination with pottery has followed me all my life. It came into my path via a 40th birthday gift—a voucher for three classes that turned into 600 classes!
Pottery is a vast and colourful arena with many facets, levels, and avenues of skill and creativity. I plan on exploring them all, however long it takes —forever.
